A flurry of steely-guitars awash with electronic percussion and the NYC cool factor of Tony Diodore’s pristine vocals has BM Linxs’ heads peering out from its grimy underground pit for their debut release of ‘Black Entertainment’. But, out of that underground they don’t play their hand, and fundamentally that’s the disappointing thing here, it’s all too much indebted to already written blueprints. ‘Kids On Fire’ sounds like the Frankenstein of Kasabian and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. ‘Red House Been Empty’ again exhibit’s the murky psych of the Leicester mobs inner realms, and the raucous indie-rock of the early days of BRMC. And, this is where the New Yorkers find themselves too often, the sticker the band leaves on the wall of the toilet in the venue they’ve just played, if you like. This may sound all too harsh, as when they get their dirty nails into ‘The Outlaw Jimmy Rose’ it draws the aces out of their pack. One things for sure it definitely doesn’t “ear-rape you” like some twatty journalist from one of the UK’s leading magazines remarked…cough…NME! If BRMC and Kasabian hadn’t done this all before this album would have had a monumental landing! However, it will no doubt be a floor-filler in your local dingy indie club…thing is, I’ll be the one dancing to it!
