Indie rockers City Reign formed in 2007 after Chris Bull (vocals/guitar) and Michael Grice (guitar) met at a Ryan Adams gig. Their mutual appreciation for Adams' music led the pair to name their band homophonically after Adams' song 'City Rain, City Streets', and Glaze (bass) and Sam Jones (drums) were soon recruited. The title track of their debut EP (produced by Grammy-nominated Dan Parry), forthcoming single 'Daybreak' - a live fan favourite for some time now – has been re-recorded to make it a whipper-smart, indie-rock tune. With its clean guitar hooks and steadfast rhythm, the Manchester-based band's third single  manages to hit all the right notes (if you'll pardon the pun) and Chris Bull has said it's the song they're most proud of. Chris has also described 'Daybreak' as possessing “that typically youthful conflict between despair and restless hopefulness.” He also cites the harmonies in the song's outro as capturing “that feeling that there's always something else to reach for, even when you don't know exactly what it is.” Fittingly, the song features flourishes of the idealistic yearning that was so often a feature of '90s American bands – such as even the likes of Pearl Jam's more exultant output, such as 'Alive'.
