Though their first demo dropped only a year ago, Liverpool's ETCHES have seen their popularity snowball as their sound has progressed. Impressing a host of taste-makers from the outset, including XFM's John Kennedy and Line of Best Fit, not mention seeing previous single 'The Charm Offensive' premiered on The 405, it's the clear the band have got something going for them, evidenced most recently in forthcoming single 'Ice Cream Dream Machine'.

Whereas the aforementioned '...Charm Offensive' was a subtle and deliberate indie sing-a-long, 'Ice Cream Dream Machine' is a dark duality of sleek electro and atmospheric rock which deals lyrically with the idea of conspicuous consumption, and the inevitable materialism and subsequent ostricisation which go with it.

Deep themes for a dark record. It's easy to see the track finding footing in the current musical climate though; the electronic aspects an ironic subtle nod to the mass produced production line pop being consumed at the moment. Or perhaps just an indie band spreading their wings in the early days of their career. Either way, what's evident is '...Dream Machine' is a solid single with universal appeal and as such is likely to attract a wider audience than ETCHES' previous releases.
