Having sold out their debut tour on little more than word-of-mouth alone, it's of little surprise that relative newcomers October Drift possess the kind of appreciation for gut wrenching noise that gets people really excited. The band's forthcoming single, 'Whoever', while starting innocuously enough soon erupts in to an earth-shattering walls-of-noise, complete with fragile-by-comparison lead guitar that threatens, yet never manages to truly break out from behind the gargantuan rhythm section. Vocally however, it's a different beast entirely. Feeling more like Editors than the shoegaze bands which so clearly influence the instrumentation, providing some much needed clarity and uplift.

Whilst most would think such vocals at odds with the sheer magnitude of the guitar, the empathic and impassioned delivery not only offers some clarity, but also suggests a maturity and musical understanding that belies their young years. And with no social media presence to speak of (the band preferring to allow their music to speak for them) yet still managing to sell out both shows and out of records, it's obvious that they're destined for big things. Get on the bandwagon early.

'Whoever' is due out on February 16th and you can listen to it below
