In a market filled with female vocalists coming to the fore in recent years both commercially and in indie circles, it is becoming ever so harder to unearth the real gems.  For every Adele and Duffy, there's always a Laura Veirs or Laura Marling, who in their original guise hide behind the spotlight before flourishing into great artists and eventually getting the rewarded attention. The 20-year-old Brighton-based Moya has a rather special voice as proved on her debut single 'Telling Tales', but does she have the substance? On this, her EP teaser to what's to come on her forthcoming May debut album, we get two covers and two originals. Primal Scream's 'I'm Losing More Than I'll Ever Have' is rather nice, nothing more, original 'Heroine' bittersweet and tender, 'On My Own' a little languid and plodding before final track John Martyn's timeless 'Don't Want to Know' finishes things off nicely. It is one of those EPs that drifts along perfectly, but at no stage leaves the listener hankering for more or hooked. Moya has a great voice, performed well, but when it comes to a filled market, there is a fear she might just get lost among the crowd.
