The Back Page: a Q+A with Dave McPherson of InMe
Being on the internet, Shout4Music doesn’t have a back page. But if it did, it might look a bit like this.
We’ve asked a bucket full of bands and an array of artists to answer our questions on life, the universe and everything.
This time we chat to Dave McPherson or InMe who explains his views of Mother Nature and chilled Guiness and offers a great Italian cuisine themed joke.
And when you've done reading this, don't forget to check out Roland McIntyre's review of the band's best of, 'Phoenix: The Best Of InMe'
What are you listening to right now?
Loudon Wainwright the Third, Born of Osiris, Volumes, Charlie Simpson, Sylosis.
How did you get into music?
From a very young age through my father. He always tinkled the ivories to wake us up of a weekend & I was fascinated by his vinyl/cassette collection. Music is a very important part of my Dad's side of the family.
Tell us a joke.
My girlfriend left me for touching up pasta. Now I'm feeling cannelloni.
Who do you follow religiously on Twitter?
I don't follow anyone religiously but I like Dom Lawson's no-nonsense tweets and I'm a big fan of Frank Turner's music and find his tweets informative yet very humble.
What have you been reading lately?
I've been too busy to indulge in a book for quite a while although I'm usually geeing out about films on IMDB if I ever find spare time!
Who is the most influential person in your life?
My Grandfather was and always will be my inspiration and hero.
Which song do you wish you had written?
'Red' by Daniel Merriweather is a bit of a weapon!
Does God exist?
Mother Nature is God to me. It's just a man-made word to describe what you believe a higher force to be. I don't follow any established organised religions.
We’re at the bar. What are you drinking?
Depends if they have any decent cask ale, preferably slightly chilled and pale. Otherwise Guinness extra cold.
Who would you dread getting stuck in a lift with?
Anyone on any of these stupid reality shows. You know the ones.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A musician!
What song will you have played at your funeral?
'I believe in you' by Talk Talk.
What gigs, songs or albums are you promoting at the moment?
Generally mine and InMe's! Born of Osiris are insane live, Frank Turner never fails and my mate Hadleigh Ford always raises a smile and a goose bump or 20.
