The Back Page: a Q+A with Jo Hamilton
Being on the internet, Shout4Music doesn't have a back page. But if it did, it might look a bit like this.
We've asked a bucket full of bands and an array of artists to answer our questions on life, the universe and everything.
This time round we chat to Jo Hamilton who offers us a very cheesy joke and plenty of nostalgia about growing up.
Don't forget to check out Don McKinlay's review of her album 'Gown' here.
What are you listening to right now?
The most recent thing that I've heard was a little song written by some friends with Chris Tye singing. My neighbour has lent me a Stan Kenton CD which I'm looking forward to listening to soon.
How did you get into music?
We had a musical upbringing with lots of singing on long car journeys and at primary school in the Highlands we sang a lot of traditional songs from the area.
Tell us a joke.
What cheese do you tempt a bear out of the woods with? Camembert.
Who do you follow religiously on Twitter?
I'm happy to dip into who I follow now and then.
What have you been reading lately?
'At The Water's Edge' by John Lister-Kaye.
Who is the most influential person in your life?
My friend and colleague Jon Cotton.
Which song do you wish you had written?
I don't think like that.
Does God exist?
The majesty of the natural world and the inner beauty in each other exist.
We're at the bar. What are you drinking?
A large gin and tonic made with pride.
Who would you dread getting stuck in a lift with?
No, I can't think of anyone. It would either be a pleasure or a challenge, both of which I enjoy.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I don't remember ever thinking like that.
What song will you have played at your funeral?
I do like a bit of peace and quiet... Perhaps some wind through some long grass. Then again, you can't go wrong with a bagpipe.
What gigs, songs or albums are you promoting at the moment?
'Gown' is the name of the album, and we have a DVD called 'Gown Illuminated' which accompanies it.
How can we find out more about you?
