The Back Page: A Q+A with Roger Houdaille of Ex Norwegian
Being on the internet, Shout4Music doesn't have a back page. But if it did, it might look a bit like this.
We've asked a bucket full of bands and an array of artists to answer our questions on life, the universe and everything.
The other day, we ran a feature called 'Norwegian's Good' about some of the best music from Norway. A band we didn't mention was Ex Norwegian. Mainly because they're actually from America. Florida to be precise. In fact their name comes from a 'Monty Python' skit.
The band have a new album out called 'Sketch'. Here, Roger Houdaille (centre in the picture) from the band answers our questions.
What are you listening to right now?
David Bowie's 'Diamond Dogs' obsessively.
How did you get into music?
Just happened. I was very creative as a kid and I would make up my own languages, my own countries, my own history books of said made up countries, and eventually my own songs – and I realized that one had the best shot.
Tell us a joke.
My dog has no nose. How does it smell? Awful!
Who do you follow religiously on Twitter?
Bishops and the Pope.
What have you been reading lately?
David Icke.
Who is the most influential person in your life?
I've had many, but now I realize I have to be my own most influential person. Talk about pressure!
Which song do you wish you had written?
'Art For Art's Sake' by 10cc is a good one. Or anything by the 70s British progressive group Patto.
Does God exist?
Most likely. Just not as we perceive (or should I say believe) it.
We're at the bar. What are you drinking?
India Pale Ale.
Who would you dread getting stuck in a lift with?
Any Clintons, Bushes, Obamas.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
Bus driver.
What song will you have played at your funeral?
'Long, Long, Long' by The Beatles.
What gigs, songs or albums are you promoting at the moment?
The second album, 'Sketch', which got its proper release in the UK on 5 December 2011.
