There's no such thing as a free lunch. Unless of course, you take your sustenance aurally. In which case you've come to the right place for some right tasty - and free - treats. Music is, after all, the food of love, hate and all things in between.

So settle down with this week's menu of musical marvels. The waiter will be along shortly to take your order. Bon appetit!

10. Leila – '(Disappointed Cloud) Anyway (Radio Edit)'

Assigning weather features with emotions sounds interesting. Disappointed Cloud, meet Slightly Miffed Snowflakes and Crestfallen Mist. Leila's track is heavy on complex rhythms and synthetic sounds. There's no time to get bored here; every single second is filled with something captivating, even the ear piercing white noise at the end. Download here.

9. Howler – 'Back Of Your Neck'

What would happen if The Super Furry Animals became possessed by the spirit of a 50s American Diner's Jukebox? Something approximating this, we fancy. It's quirky to say the very least – both slightly weird and more than a little bit wonderful. Download here.

Howler - Back of Your Neck

8. Troumaca – 'Sanctify'

Fancy the sound of warmer climes on a chilly November day? Look no further than Birmingham based Troumaca and their free downloand 'Sanctify'. It's full of tropical sounding rhythms and the occasional hint of inspiration from the likes of Wild Beasts. Download here.

Sanctify

7. Bear Driver – 'Never Never'

Ghostly vocals haunt this free download from Bear Driver. 'Never Never' is a world-weary sounding tune with reluctant vocals and a slowly unfolding accompaniment. It is, undoubtedly, a rather beautiful thing. Download here.

Bear Driver - Never Never

6. The Jezebels – 'Try Colour' (pictured)

Stevie Nicks-ish vocals glide over grainy guitars and drums bashed within nanometres of their lives on 'Try Colour'. The Jezebels are rather big in their native Australia, thanks in no little part to much support from the Triple J radio station. This is a rich, intense song – utterly relentless and rather splendid. Download here.

The Jezabels - Try Colour

5. All The Saints – 'Half Red, Half Way'

It's a big, big sound that greets us as 'Half Red, Half Way' opens with the sounds of guitars grinding away, doing their best impression of a motorbike. It's high octane all the way through. It's not the fastest of songs, BPM-wise, but the riot of sound will send sparks flying around your ears. Immense. Download here.

All The Saints - Half Red, Half Way

4. Puro Instinct – 'Silky Eyes'

Never mind silky eyes, it's the silky soft voices of Puro Instinct that will grab your attention here. The Los Angeles duo sing over a busy electro-indie accompaniment, nodding their perfectly long blonde locks somewhere in the direction of The Cocteau Twins. Rather wonderful. Download here.

3. The Milk – 'B-Roads (Byron Bootleg)'

Soul, R 'n' B and UK hip hop fuse together in this gloriously funky track. 'I read somewhere that the three worst addictions a person can have is carbs, heroin and a monthly wage' runs one lyric.  Move over Cee Lo Green, The Milk are in town. Download here.

The Milk - B-Roads (Byron bootleg)

2. Lambchop – 'If Not I'll Just Die'

Kurt Wagner and co. take things to a seedy, smokey jazz club (“Nice”) with this freebie from their forthcoming album (“Great”). Wagner's slight gravelly voice is matched perfectly with the warm strings and their swinging rhythms here. It's unlikely that you'd ever have caught Nat King Cole opening a song with the line 'Don't know what the fuck they talk about', mind… Download this gorgeous track here.

Lambchop - If Not I'll Just Die

1. Mariachi El Bronx – 'Only The Lonely'

You wouldn't think a Mariachi band would get much of an airplay on modern radio stations. Nevertheless, American band The Bronx have been rather successful with their side project, Mariachi El Bronx. Here, the band take the Roy Orbison classic and give it a dusty Mexican flavour, making it entirely their own. Listen to it and love it. Download here.
