For many bands, that story of how they first got together or what inspired them to make music is particularly interesting or exciting. For Autoheart, it was a case of a simple chance meeting. However, sometimes, that can be the best kind of introduction. In 2007, following this chance meeting in East London, Jody (vocals) and Simon (piano/keyboards) realised that they shared a similar taste in music which prompted them to start working together. A cover of Bronski Beat's 'Small Town Boy' later and Autoheart were born.

Originally called The Gadsens, Autoheart's single 'The Sailor Song' received widespread critical-acclaim from the likes of Shaun Keaveny, who named it "record of the week" on his BBC6 radio show, and also from The Guardian. Now, having just released their new single 'Control', the five-piece are set to impress once again. The single, produced by Danton Supple (Coldplay's X & Y), is one terrific track featuring some truly amazing songwriting and musicality. Opening with a catchy kind of drum rhythm and gentle piano melody, 'Control' paints a picture of the breakdown of a relationship with enough of a balance between melancholy and annoyance to exhibit significant and honest emotion. The vocals are haunting and beautiful, adding further to the feelings conveyed within the song.

The band's debut album, also produced by Danton Supple, is due for release in 2012 and if their previous releases are anything to go by, the album will surely be one to keep an eye out for.
