Even though their name sounds like it belongs to a badass athlete, Jensen Sportag produce some blissful electro-infused R&B. Austin Wilkinson and Benji Craig are the duo behind the music and in recent months, they have quite rightfully been receiving the recognition they deserve for their experimental and genuinely lovely mix of genres. In Nashville, where country and folk music dominate, you wouldn't expect to find a duo like Jensen Sportag. But here they are, ready to unleash something different and quite frankly awesome.

Their 'Pure Wet' EP, released back in February was full of gems, from start to finish. Featuring dream-like synths and silky vocals throughout, each track leaks a certain amount of creativity, not seen that often in the pop genre. Where pop has become so predictable and ultimately boring, it's nice to see a little bit of individuality and actually feel a sense of excitement hearing something new. But then there's also that nostalgic feel about Jensen Sportag's music, namely the fact that tracks like 'Mapquest' and 'Pure Wet' have a distinctive 80s disco vibe to them.

The duo's latest release 'Gentle Man', out on the brilliant Cascine label just further confirms what so many have been saying about them since 'Pure Wet'. They seem totally comfortable now, with the emotion apparent in the airy ambience of the vocals and the memorable chorus, which has some very charming lyrics: "Gentle, I'll be your gentle man, darling, I understand this is my only chance, I can be so gentle." It's sweet without being cheesy and cringe-worthy, a fate many electro-pop tracks unfortunately succumb to. These guys are definitely doing something right, so fingers crossed it gets noticed! To get a taste of what I'm on about, watch the videos for 'Everything Good' and 'Jareaux' below and prepare to fall in love with what you hear.
