Liam Bailey is the type of musician that has a voice that stays with you long after that first listen. It's not just about the soulful nature of his voice; he has a certain charisma that draws listeners in, a quality that can generally be considered quite rare in a lot of today's music. Having featured on Chase and Status' Top 5 single 'Blind Faith', the singer-songwriter has been building up a steady fan-base due to the success of the single and his two previous EPs. Now, as he releases his new EP 'It's Not The Same' and as more people take notice of his fresh yet somewhat nostalgic sound, the success is only likely to grow.

'It's Not The Same' has an obvious mixture of influences from reggae to blues, but on the whole there's a definite feeling of authenticity as Baily manages to capture a sound that very much brings to mind legendary artists like Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. Nevertheless, he does succeed in adding something contemporary to the mix, making his overall sound both interesting and refreshing. Title track 'It's Not The Same' showcases his stunning vocals perfectly, whilst an acoustic version of 'Blind Faith' takes the song to a whole different and unique place. It's the definition of an artist adding their own flavour to something and in turn, making it their own. 'Older Than The Sun' has a very mellow, up-beat feel to it and final track 'On My Mind' makes terrific use of some almost eerie sounding instrumentation, giving the track real attitude.

Listening to the EP, it's no wonder Liam Bailey caught the attention of producer Salaam Remi, whose previous work includes Amy Winehouse's 'Back To Black'. Despite planning a break following his success, Bailey's sound was impressive enough to force Remi to re-consider and thus 'Out Of The Shadows', Bailey's debut album, is due to be released in September with Remi as the album's producer.

Having already supported Jessie J and Plan B on tour, you can expect Bailey's live shows to be pretty special as he brings a cool, laid-back 60s feel to his performances. Many are already describing him as the future of Britain's soul scene, proving that his voice has indeed been resonating in the minds of many fans, old and new. Check out the video for 'It's Not The Same' plus an acoustic performance of 'Blind Faith' below.
