It does you good to get away and experience new things, and so with this in mind I booked myself a getaway to Dubstep, a popular island which is - according to my travel agent Wikipedia Tours - situated near Grime and 2-Step. Although initially cautious (Danny Dyer gangster film soundtracks do Dubstep no favours), online investigation assured me that my accommodation, part of the 'Dubstep Allstars' chain, run by a respected local known as Plastician – was likely to be above average. I was soon on the streets to absorb the local culture, and as 'Brap' got my foot tapping, I got my first taster of wobbly bass, but not my last. It's strange at first, but once you acquire the taste you begin to go for the stronger stuff, and by the time 'Depth Charge' dropped I was vibe-ing like a local. It's hard to go full tilt the whole holiday though, so I enjoyed the visit to 'Alone Time' on my last day: I'd got my bearings by then and appreciated how chilled the bass thrum and keys could be. Dubstep: interesting, if a bit dark - but then you don't go for the weather do you?
