How was your SXSW experience this year?
Fun. Crazy. Exhausting. This was our first year as a showcasing band so it was very exciting, and our schedule was packed. We also got to see a lot of great bands – The Middle East, Tigercity, Dappled Cities, Body Language and Dawes. The Third Man Records pop-up store was also awesome. Hopefully we’ll get to do it all again next year!
The album that everyone should know about that was released last year?
Phoenix – ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix’
Bowery Ballroom or Music Hall of Williamsburg?
Can’t do it, both so good!!!
Pianos or the Cake Shop?
Cake Shop!!!
And finally, what can we expect from Savoir Adore in the coming six months?
We’re currently in the middle of our European Tour. Releasing ‘In The Wooded Forest’ worldwide August 16. New music and more shows in the fall!
Here’s the video for their first single ‘Bodies’;

Smart-arsed modern pop rears it’s refulgent head once more courtesy of the re-introduction of French trio Phoenix. ’Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix’ the bands fourth album of silky beats underpinning Thomas Mars’ lush vocal purrs is with us once more. Quintessentially, it’s lounge-style electro with polished pop and synth waves of funk and house. The album was constructed in the studio of Parisian 19th century Romantic painter Theodore Gericault home. Within those chambers Phoenix have successfully re-ignited their ingenious knack of producing streams of Gallic, densely layered waves of beats and an aural panache that pushes Mars’ vocals on a premium pedestal. The catchy modern-pop of ‘Lisztomania’ is irresistibly danceable and so, the synth driven ’1901’ which polarizes the Art Nouveau. The thickly layered ’Love At A Sunset Part 1’s sprinkled interlude of synth stabs stretches further into ’Love At A Sunset Part 2’ surprisingly, I yelp in jest! And vintage pop oeuvre ’Lasso’ encapsulates their danceable rhythms and rolling guitars, the aural panache of Mars, is apparent as ever. It’s an album that firmly places Phoenix back in the cool indie nightclubs and whether it be house, electro, melancholy indie they purvey, it’s all done with consummate ease and aptitude. And maybe their best record to date!
